The world of design will once again be taking centre stage in the splendid setting of the French capital with Italian ceramic companies enjoying pride of place. The 2010 edition of Maison & Objet, the trade fair devoted to the world of creativity and reserved for industry professionals, will be held in the Paris-Nord Villepinte exhibition centre from 22 to 26 January. Although Confindustria Ceramica and the Italian Trade Commission ICE first took part three years ago, this year the show will see for the first time the direct collective participation of 10 Italian companies: Altaeco, Caesar, Cooperativa Ceramica di Imola, Cotto d’Este, Fap Ceramiche, Fincibec, Litokol, Mirage Granito Ceramico, Refin and Tagina.
A further novelty of Maison & Objet 2010 is the new collective stand designed by Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda, which will lend unique appeal to the Italian participation following the positive experience of Sia Guest in Rimini. Located in the Projects section (hall C5, stand 127), the stand covers a total surface area of 150 square metres and testifies not only to the importance of the French market but also to the efforts of Confindustria Ceramica and the Italian Trade Commission to support a strategic and fundamental sector of Italian industry.
France is the most important export market for the Italian ceramic tile industry. According to figures to 30 September 2009, Italy shipped 39.9 million square metres of tiles to France with a value of 500 million euro, 19.4% of total Italian exports.
First launched in 1995 and held twice yearly, Maison & Objet is one of the most important events in the home sector and stands out in particular for its focus on decorative styles and new trends. It is a key appointment for anticipating upcoming trends in the field of materials, design and colours and in the use of various stylistic and architectural elements. The exhibition is divided into six halls, each devoted to a different style or sector: ethnic, home textiles, tableware, art and craft, decoration and home accessories.
