As part of its Ceramic Tiles of Italy promotional activities, Assopiastrelle is kicking off its Italian campaign with participation in an international event linked to the world of architecture and large building works: Europolis – Exhibition of Technologies for a Liveable City in the Bologna exhibition centre.
At the event the Italian ceramic tile industry had its own 60 square metre information stand designed by architect Dante Donegani, where staff from Assopiastrelle and the Centro Ceramico Bologna were at hand to offer visitors and industry professionals all the technical information they require about the Italian tile industry. Visitors to the stand could also consult Assopiastrelle’s promotional publications such as CER Magazine Italia and the technical manuals. Part of the stand was set up as a catalogue library for member companies’ brochures and informative literature.
Europolis 2006 also hosts the first Biennale of Urban Design, which explores the design of architectural elements and their integration into urban settings. Ceramic tiles are well represented at this exhibition, which features the products of 13 ceramic companies selected by the show’s curator, architect Laura Villani.
This year Europolis had seven different theme sections: Urban Design and Territorial Quality; Traffic, Mobility and Infrastructures; Sports, Recreational, Swimming Pool and Fitness Facilities; Urban Forestation and Parks; Environment; Public Utilities; Territorial Marketing.
The show also had a packed programme of special events, including several series of seminars that run for the entire duration of the show. The first addresses themes relating to urban design and territorial quality, the second those of the environment and sustainable development, areas where the Italian ceramic industry has always focused major attention on the various protection initiatives introduced over the years. These are followed by Urban Forestation and Parks (the general title provided by the Europolis organisers). The other series of information forums are those devoted to Sport and fitness facilities and swimming pools and Traffic, mobility and infrastructures.
