Italian ceramic tiles and the Italian Trade Commission ICE will be taking part for the first time under the banner of the Ceramic Tiles of Italy mark in the exhibition 100%Design, to be held from 18 to 21 September 2008 in the Earls Court exhibition centre in London. The contemporary design exhibition offers a unique opportunity to discover new trends and key players in this creative world. It explores all aspects of the world of design, tapping into its enormous creative and expressive potential and showcasing innovative objects that assume different meanings in different contexts as a result of a broad vision and multidisciplinary approach.
Participation at 100%Design, the most important interior design event for the contract market that attracts producers, designers and specifiers from all over the world, is part of the Italian tile industry’s 2008 programme of promotional initiatives for the UK. It underscores the importance of the British market as an outlet for the sector, given that tile consumption in the UK has been experiencing strong growth rates since the second half of the 1990s. The market has more than doubled in size from 36 million square metres in 1996 to the current 78 million square metres. Ceramic Tiles of Italy, the mark that safeguards and promotes internationally the two-fold characteristics of ceramic tiles, is taking part in the show in cooperation with ICE with a stand designed by architects Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda. The stand (C106) showcases the latest Italian ceramic tiles for indoor residential and contract applications and also acts as an info point for visitors and market opinion leaders.
100%Design, a unique event in terms of innovation, creativity and a mix of new and established talents, hosts more than 400 exhibitors, including well-known names in the field of design and architecture. The last show drew approximately 26,000 visitors and 1,500 local and foreign journalists, underscoring the international nature of the event. With its packed programme of ancillary events, seminars, workshops, competitions and exhibitions, the show invites visitors to discover new proposals and the most original projects from all over the world in the field of architecture and innovative design. The 100% Design London Awards will as usual be presented during the show. At the London show Italian ceramic tiles will display all of their technological, stylistic and performance qualities, demonstrating yet again how Italian companies are steering ever further away from mass production and repetitiveness and towards versatile, tailor-made offerings that cater for the specifications of a given project or the requests of individual designers or architects.
