Italian ceramic tiles between research and innovation at SaieSpring 2008

To promote an awareness of the outstanding stylistic and technological qualities of Italian ceramic tile production worldwide, Confindustria Ceramica is taking part with the Ceramiche Italiane institutional mark in the first edition of SaieSpring 2008, the exhibition of interior finishings, door and window frames and door and window frame technologies to be held in the Bologna exhibition centre from 12 to 15 March 2008.
SaieSpring 2008 is the only specialist exhibition devoted to building expertise, technological innovation and the cultural debate in the field of materials research. It will give interior design and building professionals (designers, architects, engineers) the opportunity to explore five theme sections showcasing the latest technological solutions in building development and above all to meet great architects. The aim of Confindustria Ceramica’s participation in the Bologna show is therefore to enhance the prestige and image of Italian ceramic tiles in all the world’s markets and to improve knowledge of the unique characteristics that enable them to meet the needs of even the most specific and innovative projects.
The Ceramiche Italiane institutional stand, designed by architect Dante Donegani, occupies a space of 30 square metres in the Service Centre at the heart of the Bologna exhibition centre. The main feature of the Ceramiche Italiane stand is an exhibition of the latest ranges of ceramic tiles produced by the Italian industry, illustrating its outstanding design, construction technologies, aesthetic sophistication, variety and quality. The stand also has an info desk, where visitors can gain detailed technical information and the latest news on Italian ceramic tiles, and a catalogue section containing all the promotional and institutional documentation of many Italian ceramic tile producer companies. Visitors can also pick up the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of Cer Magazine Italia which features some of the architectural projects of greatest impact.
SaieSpring 2008 opens its first edition with a packed calendar of events: the exhibition New Stone Age Design devoted to the use of stone in new living spaces; WinDoor Concept Store, an exhibition devoted to the world of the door and window showroom; Next Trade, an exemplary showroom of finishes for tomorrow’s architecture; and the CET space, reserved for automations and locking systems.
The exhibition programme also features a series of outstanding ancillary initiatives aimed at professionals, technicians and businesses. These include a high-quality conference space where the exhibition themes will be addressed and “Constructing innovation of the building envelope”, an exhibition and forum devoted to the role of research and innovation as the driver behind new technological, stylistic and aesthetic innovations for building envelope systems in contemporary architecture.
