NeoCon 2008 to showcase the best of Italian tiles

Italian ceramic tiles will be in the spotlight at the NeoCon World's Trade Fair 2008, the most important furnishing show for the contract sector which will run from today 9 to 11 June 2008 in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.
Under the banner of the Ceramic Tiles of Italy mark and in cooperation with the Italian Trade Commission ICE, the Italian tile producers’ association Confindustria Ceramica is once again taking part in the exhibition devoted to American interior design and architecture professionals.

The association is participating in the ASCTEX Architectural Stone and Ceramic Tile Exposition section with a Ceramic tiles of Italy/ICE institutional stand designed by architects Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda, which will showcase the finest selection of recently produced Italian tiles successfully presented at AIA 2008 in Boston. During the three days of the show, the stand will act as a meeting and info point for the eclectic world of interior design, distributing promotional materials and Ceramic Tiles of Italy publications specially released for the event.

There will also be two technical meetings aimed at architects and interior designers. On Monday 9 June at 16.00, Confindustria Ceramica and ICE are organising a seminar entitled “Ceramic ventilated facades on the rise: an innovative and sustainable design solution”. The speakers at the event will be architect Michael P. Johnson and Paul Shahriari from Green Mind Inc. The second seminar, scheduled for Wednesday 11 June at 13.00 and entitled “Hospitality is hot for tile”, will be hosted in the Merchandise Mart as part of the Hospitality session. It will discuss the numerous possible applications of Italian ceramic tiles, which by virtue of their aesthetic, performance and design potential have been used in the most important projects in the United States. Edie Cohen (editor of magazine Interior Design), Tracy Stultz (senior designer at Gensler) and Kathleen Da Uber (senior associate at architecture firm HBA Hirsch Bedner Associates) will be the moderators at the event.

Together with AIA where Ceramic Tiles of Italy has been taking part for several years, participation at NeoCon demonstrates the Italian ceramic tile industry’s determination to reach an increasingly broad target of home and furnishing professionals and underscores the importance of the United States as a key international market for Italian tiles.
Over 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the 2008 edition of the show where more than 1,200 exhibitors from the commercial, residential, health and hospitality sectors will be displaying their products in an exhibition space of over 170,000 square metres.

The next NeoCon will be held in Chicago from 15 to 17 June 2009.
