Italian tiles on display at Contractworld 2008

The promotion of Italian ceramic tiles worldwide through the Ceramic Tiles of Italy mark will kicked off in 2008 with participation for the third year running at Contractworld, the contract and architecture section of Domotex (the leading international exhibition of carpet and other floor covering materials). The exhibition hold in Hanover at one of the most important exhibition centres in Europe and each year draws more than 50,000 visitors. From 12 to 15 January 2008 the capital of Lower Saxony was a meeting point for companies from all over the world.
As part of the 2008 promotional initiatives in Germany devoted to the Italian ceramic tile industry, Ceramic Tiles of Italy took part in Contractworld in cooperation with ICE Berlin with an institutional stand (hall 4, stand D35) designed by Italian architects Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda where visitors and market influencers were able to admire a selection of the latest Italian ceramic tiles. Italian tiles are the world leaders in terms of their unique aesthetic and performance characteristics, their sophisticated fashion content and their high technological quality suited to the applications of the contract segment (offices, hotels, shops, healthcare, showrooms, etc.). At the same time they are extremely versatile. The use of ceramic tiles for non-residential applications is made possible by their dual nature as furnishing accessories and a construction material. The Ceramic Tiles of Italy - ICE stand also served as an info and documentation point for the Italian ceramic industry’s products through the distribution of company catalogues and informative and promotional publications.
The aim of participation at this important event for architects, interior designers and decorators is to promote an awareness of the variety and quality of Italian ceramic products in the German market, which is an important sales outlet for the Italian tile industry. According to 2006 figures, exports to Germany exceeded 50 million square metres. The recovery in building investments that began in 2006 should be reflected in tile consumption, bringing the market back to a level of 3 million square metres.
In addition to the exhibition section, Contractworld will also host an important conference session where well-known figures from the world of architecture and interior design will discuss their projects.
