Italian tiles back in the spotlight at Saie 2008

SAIE 2008, the International Building Exhibition held in Bologna’s spacious exhibition centre from 15 to 18 October 2008, is showcasing Italian tiles under the institutional trademark Ceramic Tiles of Italy. For more than forty years the exhibition has been the venue where building professionals meet to discuss projects, technologies and systems for building with architecture and is now becoming increasingly international due to the participation of a growing number of foreign visitors and exhibitors. At SAIE 2008 the extensive showcase of materials, equipment, plants and machinery for building guarantees a wide range of products and solutions enabling professionals in all the sectors concerned to discover the latest technologies placed on the market.
Participation in this now customary trade fair appointment is part of the 2008 promotional initiatives for the Italian ceramic tile industry and is an important opportunity to meet building professionals, designers, architects and engineers and to showcase the most important novelties and the latest innovative trends in the field of building and architecture. Ceramiche Italiane, the mark used in Italy to safeguard and promote the two-fold characteristics of ceramic tiles, is taking part in the show with an institutional stand designed by architects Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda. The stand set up in the Services Centre at the heart of the exhibition centre features the latest Italian ceramic tiles for the indoor residential and contract sectors and also serves as an info point for Italian ceramic products where visitors can find the latest and most detailed technical information.
The 2008 edition of the show features specialist exhibitions and technical conferences devoted to energy efficiency in building and construction. The purpose of these events is to promote knowledge and best use of products and technologies for energy and resource saving.
SAIE has always served as a barometer for the state of health of the Italian building industry and alongside the areas devoted to machinery, technology and building products also features various theme shows and a space reserved for innovation, research and new building techniques. The last edition of the International Building Exhibition saw the participation of 1,750 exhibitors (including 350 foreign firms) and more than 178,000 visitors (7,530 foreigners) in an exhibition space of 260,000 square metres. The event is an opportunity for the Italian ceramic tile industry to further increase its international prestige and to strengthen its leadership position in terms of design, construction technologies, aesthetics, variety and quality.
