Cersaie, the International exhibition of ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings held from 2 to 6 October 2007 in Bologna, celebrated its silver anniversary with three new records that further underscore the show’s international importance. The new records were the figures for total visitors, foreign visitors and Italian and foreign journalists.
The show drew a total attendance of 91,935 visitors (+1.1%). This new record for a five-day edition of Cersaie was complemented by a further increase in international scope and quality of the visitors.
The stands of the 1,078 companies from 32 different countries were visited by a total of 27,121 professional attendees (+3.7%), a further increase over last year’s record figure. At 29.5% of the total, this confirms Cersaie’s world-leading position in terms of international attendance. The numbers of Italian professionals totalled 59,345, an increase of 0.4%.
The show also performed well in terms of journalist attendance. A total of 632 accredited journalists took part compared to 604 in 2006 (+4.63%), including higher numbers of both Italians (360, +7.8%) and non-Italians (272, or 43% of the total).
The various institutional meetings were strongly attended, beginning with the inaugural conference on Tuesday 2 October. Entitled ‘Liberalisation: the state of progress’ and moderated by Giuseppe Turani, the conference featured addresses by Luca di Montezemolo, Innocenzo Cipolletta, Francesco Giavazzi and Alfonso Panzani. More than 200 people took part in the International Press Conference held on the afternoon of Tuesday 2 October in Palazzo Re Enzo in Bologna, which saw keynote addresses by Alfonso Panzani, Vittorio Borelli, Giorgio Squinzi, Massimo Mamberti and Franco Vantaggi. On Thursday 4 October, Sala Italia in the Palazzo dei Congressi was packed out for the conference given by Mario Botta on ‘Architecture and Memory’, introduced by Alfonso Panzani and moderated by Aldo Colonetti.
